10 Things To Start You Off Strong In 2020
As the final day of 2019 fast approaches, the time is now to set yourself and your business up for success. These final hours can be a launching pad into bigger and greater things for your company moving forward. Implement these 10 tips, and you’ll begin to see growth happening perhaps even before 2020.
1. Wake up 15 minutes earlier and meditate.
Sleep is a precious thing, especially when you’re constantly busy. But there is nothing like setting your mind right to conquer the day ahead. By sacrificing just 15 minutes in the morning, you can bring yourself into mindfulness that can energize you and will no doubt clear your head to begin the day. With the proper mindset, you’re prepared to take on the daily tasks and to-do list items sitting on your desk.
2. Take a 15-minute walk in the middle of the day.
Just like starting your day with meditation can help start the day right, taking a short break in the middle of it can help you stay effective. With all the hustle and bustle that our businesses demand throughout the day, we have to be at our best. This starts by taking care of yourself. Allowing yourself 15 minutes in the middle of the day to “reset” can make you more effective in all the different directions you’re being pulled throughout the day.
3. Map out measurables from Labor Day to Thanksgiving.
Where do you want to be during this fourth quarter? Better yet, how are you going to get there? It’s been said, “A dream without a plan is just a wish,” so start making plans. Brainstorm what you and your team members need to get done from now until the end of the year and how can you measure your success. Don’t worry about the number just yet. Just get your ideas on paper and keep them in front of you. This way, they’re always on your mind and visible.
4. Identify your top three measurables.
Now, start to pare them down. Pick your top three measurables and activities associated with them. Focusing on these top three will create your momentum heading into the new year. Your attention and activities should be on meeting and mastering these objectives. Once completed, you’ll be ready to grow your pipeline even bigger in 2020.
5. Create a list of your top 10-30 clients or prospects and contact them.
Clients (and prospective clients) matter. To garner a greater amount of momentum heading into 2020, make a list of your top 10-30 clients. If you don’t have this many, supplement the list with prospective clients. Then make contact with these clients within the next 90 days. As the people who matter most to your business, it should be your goal to get yourself and your business in front of them to either begin or continue to build your relationship.
6. Post to social media at least three times per week.
This may seem like a strange way to build a stronger pipeline, but in today’s day and age of social influence, one cannot overestimate the importance of being seen as a thought leader. Add value to your followers’ life by sharing quick video tips, blog posts, and information that will benefit them simply by encountering it. By posting three times a week, you won’t overload them but leave them wanting more.
7. Find a mentor.
Mentorship is one of the most valuable relationships you can have. You cannot grow your business without someone who can pat you on the back when things are good and push you forward when times are tough. This person sees you through your peaks and valleys.
Meet with your mentor a minimum of once a week for 15-30 minutes, and make it non-negotiable.
8. Reach out to experts weekly.
Along with someone who personally knows you and can speak to your business, you should also seek out experts in your field and reach out at least once a week to ask, “What’s one best practice you use to grow your business?” Compile their answers and glean as much from their expertise as you can. Implement what you need, and watch your business grow in 2020.
We all have those tasks on our list that we find an excuse not to do. Simply, we resist them for a variety of reasons. Yet, there they sit, still taunting us. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is delegate them. Find a team member whom you can empower to help you. Get them on your side, cast the vision, and help them help your business grow.
10. Work hard, play hard.
Up until now, the advice has been to work hard. It all culminates to this: Play hard. Enjoy life outside of the office, and don’t work your life away.
Again, your business will grow when you’re the healthiest version of yourself you can be, and that doesn’t mean letting work overtake your life. So, here’s your permission: Work hard, but get out of the office, blow off steam and enjoy your life.
